ALTON, IL. — As Marquette Catholic High School celebrates its historic 100th school year, the school is proud to announce the creation of the Marquette Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame, a permanent tribute to the athletes, coaches, teams, and supporters whose dedication and achievements have shaped nearly a century of Explorer athletics.

The Athletic Hall of Fame “will recognize individuals and teams who have exemplified excellence, sportsmanship, leadership, and a lasting commitment to Marquette Catholic,” said Athletic Director Brian Hoener.

"With this being our 100th school year, now is the perfect opportunity to launch this effort," Hoener said. "There are many deserving of this honor. After one hundred years, we have some catching up to do."

As part of the initiative, Marquette Catholic hopes to transform a dedicated space outside the gymnasium into the permanent home of the Athletic Hall of Fame. Plans include an interactive display that will allow students, alumni, families, and visitors to explore the stories, accomplishments, photographs, and history of Explorer athletics for years to come.

“The interactive display will allow these stories to continue growing with each new class of inductees”, Hoener said. “We are working on construction estimates and how to raise the funds. We want it to be a nice space that fits the purpose.”

The inaugural class of the Marquette Hall of Fame will be announced in November, 2026, with the first Athletic Hall of Fame Induction ceremony scheduled for April, 2027, as one of the signature events commemorating Marquette Catholic's 100th school year.

“We have a great committee who have agreed on an inaugural class that recognizes many of our great athletes, coaches, and teams. I’m thrilled to see this effort moving forward”, Hoener said.
