2019 College Scholarship Applications

 The scholarships listed below are compiled by the application deadline.  Seniors are highly encouraged to check the pages weekly as the list may change.  The listings are fluid and may vary from year to year so the best way to stay informed is to check the list frequently. 

The due date listed is the date the organization MUST receive your application.  It is imperative that the application is turned into Mrs. Rivera in the Academic Center no later than 5 workdays prior to the due date listed to ensure that transcripts and required paperwork may be submitted on or before the actual due date. Please note the due dates for scholarships are firm and, as a rule, scholarship application will not be accepted past the established due date.  If you have questions regarding any of the applications or submissions procedures, you may email Mrs. Rivera at mrivera@mymchs.org.

JANUARY 2019

ISCA Student Scholarship
Qualifications-  Any Senior can be awarded this scholarship to be used to support the following post-secondary options:  4-year college/university. 2-year college/university, trade school or apprenticeship program. Non-renewable.

TheBank of Edwardsville
Qualifications- Any Marquette graduating senior.  Must have maintained a "B" average or better for seven semesters of high school.  Applicant must plan on enrolling full-time at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or trade/vocational school.  Recipients will be selected on the basis of the following:  1) positive leadership and character exhibited in both academic and extra-curricular school activities 2) positive leadership and character exhibited in community and/or religious activities.  Gender, race, or financial needs will not be criteria for selection.

CBAI Foundation for Community Banking
Qualifications-  Competition is open to Illinois high school seniors who are sponsored by a CBAI member bank; it is not based on financial need.  Students must be U.S. citizens and residents of Illinois.  Student bank employees, plus the immediate families of any bank's employees, board members, and CBAI employees are ineligible. Students are asked to write one paragraph on each of the three topics. See specifics on the form. MCHS is eligible to win $500.

Madison County Farm Bureau
Qualifications-  Open to Madison County Farm Bureau members, spouses or their dependents who major in agriculture, agribusiness, or an ag-related course of study. Students must attend schools located in Illinois and are based on scholastic ability. The program's purpose is to help assure a well-qualified and professional agricultural workforce in Illinois. Applicant must have applied, intends to apply or has been accepted for enrollment at an accredited Illinois college, university or community college.
Deadline- February 11, 2019

1st Presbyterian Church Scholarships -5 separate scholarships 
Qualifications-  
  • Jay Reed Delano, Jr. & Robert B Lynn, Jr. Scholarships- Provides financial aid to needy and worthy students in the top 40% of their class.  Consideration also is given to students who demonstrated leadership and acceptance of responsibility in school, church, or community activities.
Varies
  • Virginia J. Sooker Memorial Scholarship- Applicant must be in good standings and ranked in the top 10% of their graduating class.  Applicants who are member or children of members are given preference.  If no applicant is an attendee of 1st Presbyterian of Alton, Illinois, preference will be given to students with an interest in theater and/or music. Financial need is not taken into consideration.

  • Lorelle Webb Memorial Scholarship- Graduating female with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale). Applicant must have participated in some extracurricular activities and COMMUNITY SERVICE.  Award not based on income but may be considered.

  • Frank K. Webb Memorial Scholarship- Graduating male with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale). Applicant must have participated in some extracurricular activities and COMMUNITY SERVICE.  Award not based on income but may be considered.

Qualifications- Applicant must live and have a mailing address in Alton or Godfrey.  Scholarships will be awarded based on a submitted essay, GPA, community service oriented activities, community/school leadership roles, community/school extra-curricular activities and teacher recommendation. Multiple scholarships are awarded.

Illinois AMVETS
Qualifications-  Women, aged 16-19 on 1st April each year, living in a Zonta district are eligible to apply.  Applicant must show an active commitment to volunteerism, have experience in local government, student government, or workplace leadership, taken on a volunteer leadership role, have knowledge o Zonta International and its programs, and support the Zonta International's mission of empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.  See the Application requirements

Qualifications-  Applicants must be a resident of Illinois and a U.S. citizen. Short essays, letters of recommendation focusing on community service, not school accomplishments. Awarded to those with financial need.

Qualifications-  Eligible applicants should be in the top third of your graduating class.  Applicants must show character and growth potential, submit recommendations, and show an economic need.

Qualifications-  Applicate must be a high school senior enrolled or in the process of enrolling in Biology, Conservation, and/or related field higher-education at a full-time college/university.

Community Advisory Panel (CAO) of the Wood River Refinery - Phillips 66
Qualifications-  Applicate must be a high school senior who plans on attending a community college or university following graduation from Alton, Bethalto, EAWR, Roxana or MCHS.  A short essay on how the student gives back to the community, a letter of recommendation, a list of school and community activities as well as a short essay stating the need for the scholarship.  If planning on attending vocational/tech school, please state reason.

Qualifications-  Eligible applicants shall be graduating seniors, must have a "B" average or a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and applicants must plan to enroll full-time at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college, university or trade/vocational school. The recipient selected from Marquette Catholic will be based on the following criteria:  1) Positive leadership and character exhibited in both academic and extracurricular school activities 2) Positive leadership exhibited in community service and/or religious activities

Phillips66 Community Advisory Panel (CAP) of the Wood River Refinery
Qualifications-  awarded to high school senior who plans to attend a 2-year community college or 4-year college or university following graduation.  The scholarship is awarded on the following criteria:  education/career goals, community service/involvement, social need., and academic performance. Applicant must submit an essay on how you intend to give back to your community in the future and how this relates to your planned studies. Submit letters of recommendation. Document your school and community activities, submit a short essay stating need of scholarship/special circumstances in the family, submit a non-official transcript.

The Women of the Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women
The Springfield in Illinois SDCCW, and Affiliate of the National Council of Catholic Women has instituted a Diocesan Scholarship Program to recognize outstanding Catholic, female high school seniors who exemplify SDCCW's mission, values of leadership, faith, and service.
Qualifications- Young women who are interested in applying for the scholarship must be from one of the 7 Deaneries of Alton, Decatur, Effingham, Jacksonville, Litchfield, Quincy or Springfield.  A typed completed application, essay, and two letters of recommendation are required.

Humbert Road Dentistry Scholarship

Qualifications- Available to Marquette Catholic graduating seniors interested in entering a healthcare profession. Applicate must demonstrate good citizenship through extra-curricular activities that enhance the community or school. 2.5 GPA or better based on a 4.0 scale.  Write a 500-800 essay.

Qualifications- Applicant must be a member of the 1st MidAmerica in good standings. Employees, directors and their families are not eligible.  Applicant must submit an official transcript for the most current semester available with the total cumulative GPA on the transcript, two letters of recommendation and an essay on the topic provided on the application.

Criteria-  Applicants must submit a 3-5 minute video on a STEM topic of their choice.  Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited  2-year or 4-year undergrad program within the U.S. and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.  Applicants are eligible regardless of area of study or major. AT&T employees and their families are eligible to apply.

Qualifications- To be eligible for the ISPE St. Clair Chapter scholarship, applicants must attend an engineering program at an Illinois or Missouri university/college that has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

This multicultural scholarship program is a competitive award granted to a high school senior who is committed to cultural awareness; academic success; community involvement and service; and leadership.
