Dr. Woodiel Nominated For The "Excellence in Theatre Education Award"
Behind every great performance is inspiration, and behind inspiration is a great teacher.
Dr. Loftin C. Woodiel, Theatre Director at Marquette Catholic High School (Alton, IL), has been nominated for the "Excellence in Theatre Education Award".
Each year the Tony Awards® and Carnegie Mellon University recognize teachers who create the next generation of theatre artists. These dedicated professionals discover talented students, nurture them, inspire them and set them off on a lifelong journey as theatre supporters and professionals.
The 2017 Marquette senior theatre students and their parents shared the story of their theatre educator who made a difference in their lives, and the lives of others. They documented Dr. Woodiel 's work through letters of recommendation, photography and video.
The winning teacher will receive the Award and $10,000 for their theatre program at the 71th annual Tony Awards on June 11, and be acknowledged on the CBS telecast.
