Edwardsville High basketball coach Mike Waldo, who recently notched his 700th career high school coaching victory, was the recipient of a plaque from Marquette Catholic High School athletic director Jack Holmes following last week’s Alton High at Edwardsville basketball game. Holmes made the presentation to Waldo in the Tigers locker room following the game. Waldo began his high school coaching career at Marquette and his first 87 victories were with the Explorers. The plaque is inscribed: ” Congratulations to our good friend Coach Mike Waldo for winning his 700th game on February 7, 2017 versus De Smet Jesuit High School. We gave you your start, You gave us your best! Great memories! Your friends at Alton Marquette Catholic High School, February 2017.”
