Volleyball to play for Regional Championship

On Tuesday, Oct. 25th, Marquette won their regional semifinal match at North Greene HS, defeating Greenfield  25-22, 17-25. 25-21.   Marquette now owns a 13-18 mark on the season

Marquette will play this Thursday in the North Greene regional finals against Pana, which won their match tonight against North Greene.   

Statistical leaders for Marquette tonight were:

  • Laura Hamilton -  21 digs, 8 service points and 20 serve receptions without an error.
  • Michelle Cameron - 14 kills, 9 blocks
  • Lauren Heinz - 8 service points, 3 aces
  • Marissa Nosco -  27 assists

LOCAL ROUNDUP: Marquette spikers advance to regional finals

MARQUETTE CATHOLIC DEF. GREENFIELD 25-22, 17-25, 25-21 – The Explorers advanced to the Class 2A North Greene Regional championship match against Pana after beating Greenfield in a semifinal match on Tuesday.

Laura Hamilton had 21 digs, eight service points and 20 serve receptions without an error, Michelle Cameron finished with 14 kills and nine blocks, Lauren Heinz had eight service points with three aces and Marissa Nosco had 27 assists for Marquette, which improved to 13-18.

Marquette and Pana will square off at 6 p.m. Thursday. The winner advances to the Class 2A Vandalia Sectional semifinals on Tuesday.

The Explorers are looking to win their first regional title since 2005. Pana, which defeated North Greene 25-6, 25-15 in the other semifinal on Tuesday, is looking to win its second straight regional crown.
