Required Summer Reading

Students should select a book of their choosing that appropriately reflects their age and Marquette’s mission and policies. While this does not mean a book must be spiritual in context, it does mean that certain young adult novels might be deemed inappropriate due to a novel’s culturally implicit messages. Parents should play an active role in the selection process and students should be prepared for an assessment of their teacher’s choosing. If a book is deemed inappropriate by the student’s teacher, they will be asked to read a different book and complete the assessment by the end of the first quarter.
