Irby announced her intent to play volleyball for the Central Methodist Eagles in the fall of 2024 where she plans to study Biology and Chemistry.
As an Explorer, Makaila earned the honor of Most Valued Teammate in 2023 & 2024 and she was also named Tucker Automotive's Female Athlete of the Month-October 2023.
When she wasn't on the court, she was a member of the IHSA Scholar Bowl team and ACES, an exam-based competition focusing on STEM based material. She also participated in the theater and the Breast Cancer Awareness club.
Irby stated, "Marquette has prepared me thoroughly for college, academically and mentally."
